CBSE-AIIMS Virtual Mental Health Program: Mental health is no longer a silent subject—it has become a mainstream conversation shaping not only personal well-being but also academic and workplace productivity. With this perspective, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), in partnership with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi, has announced a Virtual Mental Health Series scheduled from October 4 to October 10, 2025, as part of World Mental Health Week.
This landmark series aims to create awareness, reduce stigma, and promote sustainable mental wellness practices among India’s vast school community. Beyond education, the initiative is expected to generate ripple effects for human capital development and workforce readiness, strengthening India’s socio-economic growth in the long term.
A Week of Expert-Led Sessions
The sessions will be conducted live on Webex from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. (IST), accessible to principals, teachers, counsellors, students, and parents across CBSE-affiliated schools. Participation will be capped at 1,000 per session on a first-come, first-served basis. Experts from AIIMS’ Department of Counselling Services and Psychiatry will be leading the sessions.

Why This Matters for Education and the Economy?
Investments in mental health awareness by educational boards like CBSE are not just about better school environments. Studies consistently show that supporting children’s emotional well-being enhances learning outcomes, reduces dropout rates, and contributes to a healthier future workforce.
For India’s economy, where young students represent a large share of the future labor market, initiatives like this are critical. Improved mental resilience means higher workplace productivity, reduced healthcare expenditure, and stronger national output in the long run.
With topics ranging from adolescent behavioral risks to screen-time management, the series directly addresses issues faced by students in the digital economy—bridging the gap between education, health, and economic progress.
Theme of World Mental Health Day 2025
Observed annually on October 10, World Mental Health Day 2025 holds the theme: “Mental Health is a Universal Human Right.” Programs worldwide aim to break barriers to accessible care, foster resilience, and ensure that mental health care is not seen as a privilege but a necessity. The CBSE-AIIMS initiative aligns closely with this mission, embedding well-being into the heart of India’s educational policy.
