Benefits of National Means Merit Scholarship 2025-26

• Under this scholarship, each selected student is awarded ₹12,000 per year.  This amount is transferred to a bank account through direct deposit.
• Students can use this benefit amount for school books, notebooks, school uniforms, tuition, etc.
• This scholarship is reducing the dropout rate after 8th grade and increasing the number of students enrolled in 9th to 12th grades.
• Candidates under the scheme are selected based on MAT and SAT, which is increasing student engagement.

NMMS Scholarship 2025 Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the National Means Cum Merit Scholarship, the following eligibility criteria must be met:

• Students must be residents of India.
• Students must be studying in a government school or a government-recognized school.
• Applicants must have passed 8th grade and are enrolled in 9th grade.
•  A student must have scored more than 55% marks in Class 8, while SC/ST category students are given an additional 5% relaxation.
• Furthermore, if a student wishes to avail this scholarship for Class 11 and 12, they must have scored more than 60% marks in Class 10.
• Under the scholarship, the family’s annual income must be less than ₹350,000.
• The student’s renewal criteria are also reviewed every year. If the student fails to comply with the renewal criteria, the scholarship is discontinued.
• Furthermore, only those students are selected for the scholarship scheme who are not beneficiaries of any other scholarship.
• Students studying in Kendriya Vidyalaya and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya cannot apply for this scholarship.

NMMS Scholarship Selection Process

• Under the National Means Cum Merit Scholarship 2025, students are selected based on a state-level examination. Each state conducts the MAT and SAT exams.
• The Mental Ability Test and Scholastic Aptitude Test assess students’ logical reasoning, analytical thinking, science, mathematics, and social sciences.
• This exam lasts 90 minutes and consists of multiple-choice questions. Students must pass both sections.
• The minimum passing score for this exam is 40%, while for SCs and STs, it is 32%.
• Through this NSP scholarship, lakhs of scholarships are awarded annually across the country. However, a quota is set for each state and union territory to select students based on enrollment and population in grades 7 and 8.
•  The list of shortlisted students under this scholarship is released on the state government’s official website, and the scholarship amount is transferred to the bank accounts of all selected students through Direct Benefit Transfer.

How to Apply for NMMS Scholarship 2025?

• To avail the NMMS 2025, students must first register on the National Scholarship Portal.

• This NMMS registration will be done through a one-time registration.

• After registering, students must log in to the portal and select the “Apply for NMMS” option.
• Students must then fill out the NMMS 2025 scholarship application form.
